Grout darkens slowly – but restoring it does not require hours of scrubbing.

  1. Mix one part hydrogen peroxide with one part baking soda into a paste.
  2. Apply to grout lines with an old toothbrush.
  3. Let sit 10 to 15 minutes. The peroxide bleaches stains while baking soda provides gentle abrasion.
  4. Scrub and rinse with warm water.

For stubborn mildew, apply undiluted hydrogen peroxide for 30 minutes before scrubbing.

After cleaning, apply a grout sealer. Sealed grout resists future staining and makes weekly cleaning take a fraction of the time.
