Spilled candle wax is one of the easier stains to remove – the key is working with its physical properties.

Hard surfaces:

  1. Let the wax harden completely.
  2. Pop it off with a credit card at a flat angle.
  3. Remove residue with white vinegar or a drop of olive oil.

Fabric (carpet, tablecloth, upholstery):

  1. Let harden completely, then break up and vacuum the pieces.
  2. Place a plain brown paper bag over the remaining wax and press with a warm iron. The wax melts into the paper.
  3. Treat any remaining color stain with rubbing alcohol.
