Rust stains from metal cans or razors look permanent – but most respond quickly to the right treatment.
- Lemon juice and salt: Apply salt, squeeze lemon juice over it, let sit 2 to 3 hours, scrub and rinse.
- White vinegar: Soak a cloth and lay it over the stain for an hour. Scrub and rinse.
- Bar Keepers Friend: Mix to a paste, apply, wait 1 minute, scrub gently. Safe for most bathroom surfaces.
Never use steel wool on porcelain or tile – it leaves iron particles that create new rust stains. Use a silicone tray under metal items in wet areas to prevent future stains.
