Pet hair on upholstery is one of those things that regular vacuuming never fully solves – the right technique makes a significant difference.

What actually works:

  1. Rubber gloves: Put on a rubber dishwashing glove, dampen it slightly, and run your hand across the fabric. Pet hair clumps up and lifts off easily.
  2. Damp squeegee: The rubber edge grabs hair the same way the glove does, and covers more area faster.
  3. Lint roller for finishing: After removing the bulk, a lint roller picks up the fine strands that remain.

Vacuum last, not first – vacuuming pushes pet hair deeper into fabric fibers. Remove the bulk manually, then vacuum for the final pass.

Washing your pet’s favorite blanket weekly also significantly reduces how much hair transfers to furniture in the first place.
