Carpets hold odors long after visible dirt is gone. Baking soda pulls odors from carpet fibers without any residue.

  1. Vacuum first to remove loose debris.
  2. Sprinkle baking soda generously over the entire carpet.
  3. Let sit for 15 to 30 minutes – or overnight for heavy odors.
  4. Vacuum thoroughly. Go over each area twice in different directions.

For pet odor spots: add a few drops of essential oil to the baking soda before sprinkling. Lavender and tea tree both neutralize pet smells effectively.

This works on area rugs too. Shake smaller rugs outdoors after the treatment before vacuuming.
