Kitchen towels are one of the most bacteria-laden items in most homes.
- Use separate towels for hands and dishes.
- Wash every 2 to 3 days – daily if you handled raw meat or someone is sick.
- Never use the same towel on raw meat surfaces and anything else.
- Hang towels to dry fully between uses. A damp towel folded up grows bacteria within hours.
Wash on the hottest setting safe for the fabric. If they smell musty after washing, add 1 cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle.
