You spend a third of your life on your mattress – but most people never clean it.
Here’s a simple routine to do every few months:
- Strip all bedding and wash it on the hottest setting the fabric allows.
- Vacuum the entire mattress surface using the upholstery attachment – pay extra attention to seams where dust mites accumulate.
- Sprinkle a light layer of baking soda over the mattress. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes (longer is better).
- Vacuum up the baking soda thoroughly.
For stains, spot-treat with a mixture of dish soap and cold water – never soak the mattress. Let it dry completely before putting sheets back on.
Rotate your mattress every 3 months to even out wear and extend its life.
