Sliding door tracks accumulate grit that makes doors harder to open and damages rollers over time.

  1. Vacuum the track with a crevice attachment.
  2. Sprinkle baking soda along the track.
  3. Spray with white vinegar – it fizzes and loosens packed grime.
  4. Scrub with an old toothbrush from end to end.
  5. Wipe clean with a damp cloth. A butter knife wrapped in cloth gets into corners.
  6. Dry and apply a thin layer of silicone spray so the door slides smoothly.

In desert climates, fine grit in tracks is a persistent issue. Monthly cleaning prevents damage to rollers.
