Hard water spots on chrome are mineral deposits – soap and water alone will not remove them.

In southern Utah and northern Arizona, hard water is the norm. Here is what works:

  1. Soak a cloth in undiluted white vinegar.
  2. Wrap it around the fixture for 1 to 2 hours. The acid dissolves mineral deposits.
  3. Scrub gently with an old toothbrush, especially at the base of fixtures.
  4. Rinse and dry immediately.

For prevention: dry chrome fixtures after each use. Water spots form as water evaporates – removing the water before it evaporates eliminates the spots entirely.
