Door handles and light switches are touched dozens of times a day by every person in the house – and most people never clean them.
They’re the highest-transmission surfaces in any home or office. A quick daily wipe takes less than two minutes and meaningfully reduces illness transmission, especially during cold and flu season.
What to use:
- A disinfecting wipe works fastest – one wipe per surface, let it air dry.
- A microfiber cloth dampened with a diluted bleach solution (1 tablespoon per gallon of water) is equally effective and cheaper at scale.
- Avoid soaking metal surfaces – excess moisture causes corrosion over time.
Other high-touch spots to add to the same quick daily pass: cabinet pulls, appliance handles, faucet handles, TV remotes, and phone charging spots. Two minutes, every day, protects everyone in the space.
