Your coffee maker runs hot water through itself daily – but that does not make it clean. Mineral deposits and coffee oils build up inside over time.

Monthly descaling:

  1. Fill the reservoir with equal parts white vinegar and water.
  2. Run a full brew cycle.
  3. Let sit 30 to 60 minutes, then run two full cycles of clean water to rinse.

Weekly: wash the carafe and filter basket in warm soapy water. Leave the reservoir lid open between uses to prevent mold.

If your coffee tastes bitter or off, mineral buildup is almost always the cause.
