Toaster crumbs do not just make a mess – heavy buildup near heating elements can start a fire.

  1. Unplug completely first.
  2. Remove the crumb tray and wash with warm soapy water. Dry completely.
  3. Hold the toaster upside down over the trash and shake gently.
  4. Use a clean paintbrush to sweep crumbs from the slots. Never use water or metal tools inside.
  5. Wipe the exterior with a barely damp cloth.

Do this monthly. Reinstall the dry crumb tray before plugging back in.
