A clogged bathroom fan stops removing moisture – allowing mold to grow.
- Turn off the fan at the switch or breaker.
- Pull down the cover (most have spring clips or snap off).
- Wash the cover in warm soapy water. Dry completely.
- Vacuum the fan blades and motor housing with a brush attachment.
- Wipe accessible surfaces with a damp cloth.
- Reattach the dry cover.
Do this every 6 months. A labored sound or visible dust caking means it may need replacement.
