As summer heats up, ceiling fans work overtime – and so does the dust collecting on those blades. A dusty fan blows allergens right into your breathing zone every time it spins.
Here’s a mess-free way to clean it:
- Turn the fan off and let it stop completely.
- Slip an old pillowcase over one blade at a time. Squeeze the fabric around the blade and slide it off – the pillowcase traps all the dust inside instead of letting it fall to the floor.
- Wipe the motor housing and light fixtures with a slightly damp microfiber cloth.
- Give the blades a final wipe with a dry cloth to catch any remaining residue.
- Wash the pillowcase when you’re done.
No dust clouds, no vacuuming the floor afterward. Do this once a month during high-use seasons and you’ll notice a real difference in air quality at home.
