Commercial oven cleaners contain harsh fumes. This method works as well with no ventilation concerns.
- Make a paste: half a cup of baking soda with a few tablespoons of water.
- Coat the inside of the oven, avoiding heating elements. Let sit overnight or at least 12 hours.
- Wipe away the dried paste with a damp cloth. It lifts grease and baked-on residue with it.
- Spray any remaining residue with white vinegar – it reacts with the baking soda to loosen it further.
- Wipe clean and dry.
Clean oven racks separately by soaking in a bathtub with hot water and dish soap for several hours.
